PAC Conference reduced to a chair fight

Chaos descended at the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC) on Friday. Members of the Liberation Movement saw it fit to fight among themselves before the start of the much anticipated Conference. The Party is expected to elect the National Executive Council (NEC) and discuss Party policies.

During the opening statement, at Seshego in Polokwane, The Party President, Mwanele Nyhontso, indicated that the conference will focus on issues of land, unemployment, and migration. Two groups began to assault and pelt each tore with stones over misunderstand of congress rules and accreditation.

Limpopo PAC Chairperson, Dr Pitso Mphasha, says those who were fighting are not members of the PAC but a rented crowd brought to disrupt the conference. "People who realise that numbers do not permit them to win will for rent a mob to come and disrupt congress.", said the Chairperson. He further mentioned that this is not the first time this kind of chaos happen in a conference. A similar situation occurred at the PAC conference in Mangaung in 2019. He urged the members to go to Courts instead of fighting each other.

Despite the chaos, delegates are still optimistic about the conference. Current Secretary of PAC, Apa Pooe said that the Party will deal with the land issue which is central to everything. The current President is seeking to keep his position, a position that he contest with the deputy President, Lunga Mantashe.
